Listicle writing school pt. 1 of several in 2015. Now that we’re about halfway through 2015, here are my favorite records so far. You know I can drone on and on so I’ll pipe down so I can talk.

We love Made In Heights, and the duet has posted a new song today titled “Forgiveness”. The sophomore album will drop at the end of May, but for now you can stream “Forgiveness” on Stereogum. Don’t miss this.
Seattle legends Blue Scholars headlined Showbox at The Market as part of the 75th anniversary, and it was perhaps the best way to both end the Summer and welcome the Seattle Fall. Setting the mood for the night was the beloved dj100proof. Taking us on a musical journey for an hour, dj100 had everyone in the crowd- and even in the bar- dancing like no one was watching. Spinning classics like ‘Creep’ by TLC to Seattle’s very own The Physics, his balance of old school and modern hits was perfect and kept the set fresh and fun.
RCA favorites, Made In Heights, release their new track Ghosts- available to stream now on SoundCloud. If you’ve been lucky and have experienced the duo live this track comes on during the “dance” portion of their show. I’m pretty sure they even robot a bit! Who else is beyond excited for this album to release?
Summer is coming to a close, and in about two weeks town legends Blue Scholars will be gracing our beautiful Showbox at the Market with a headlining show. If you grew up in or around Seattle you know the Hip-Hop duo for their songs that illustrate our city. Since the release of their last album, the two have been bringing other projects to life. I had the chance to speak with Geo and Saba (Sabzi) earlier this summer about what they’ve been up to and what is in store for them in the future!
Seattle recently got a beautiful surprise from the city’s very own Sabzi via Twitter, asking if anyone would come if Made In Heights were to do a show- AND WE ALL ANXIOUSLY WATCHED HIS FEED WAITING FOR NEWS! (Alright, so that was mainly just myself…) With some help from Jordan Nicholson, the nicest and debatably most talented guy in town, Made In Heights managed to host a pop-up show in San Fernando’s, a small chicken joint on Rainier, and it exceeded all expectations.
Well- not quite! Made In Heights will be hosting a DJ set/ hang out tonight at Trichome at 8pm to announce their well over-due Seattle show set for June 7th… YEAH THAT’S TOMORROW! Make it through to learn the location of the pop-up show as well as to hear some of Sabzi’s sick beats! See you there!
In an effort to specialize New Music Roundup content a bit more, #NMR will focus more on the great new music that is local to the Pacific Northwest. We’ve got a hearty batch of stuff to go through, so let’s hit it!
