Last Friday, I had the pleasure of going to my second electronic show, for Seattle duo Odesza and massive Colorado artist Pretty Lights at the Showare Center in Kent. Pretty Lights’ current West coast run sees him headlining a string of arenas, with names like Tycho, Emancipator, Gramatik, and of course, Odesza, offering touring support on various dates.
Los Angeles hardcore act Terror is making their way up to the Pacific Northwest slinging their new record ‘Live By The Code’. The quintet is touring with fellow Californians Sprung Monkey, Trash Talk, and crossover thrash staple Suicidal Tendencies. The ‘Slam City Tour’ is expected to blow out El Corazon on December 5th (Portland will get a taste 12/3, and Vancouver BC 12/4). Seattle duo Odesza is closing out a strong 2013 with a remix EP of their September release, ‘My Friends Never Die’. The new EP is a set of remixes featuring the talents of Ki:Theory, Little People, Kodak To Graph, 1990, Tor, and Vindata, and will be available for free download on the Odesza website on November 12th. For now, the remixes are up for streaming on SoundCloud, and of course, be sure to see Odesza on tour with Pretty Lights later this month in Spokane 11/21, at the ShoWare arena in Kent 11/22, or in Portland 11/23!
Following the release of Wire’s 13th studio record ‘Change Becomes Us’, the long-running British quartet has posted dates for a West coast tour and announced plans to bring their Drill festival to Seattle. The band will come up the West coast in late November, hit Portland 11/20 with Helmet and Chastity Belt, and culminate in the Drill: Seattle Festival. The lineup and venues for the festival are as follows: 11/21 at Barboza, with Earth, Pillar Point, and Drill, 11/22 at The Crocodile with Helmet, (TBA), and FF, and 11/23 at Neumos with Wire, Chastity Belt, Vestals, and the Pinkflag Guitar Orchestra. LA hip hop group MellowHigh has posted a new single titled Extinguisher in addition to their Fall US tour dates. The group, featuring Hodgy Beats and Domo Genesis from OFWGKTA and Left Brain of Odd Future, will stop in Seattle’s Neumos 11/18, Vancouver BC 11/19, and Portland 11/21. Georgian band of Montreal has debuted a music video for Fugitive Air, the first single off the new album ‘Lousy With Sylvianbriar’. The NSFW video was shot by the band in Florida and Mexico, and is now available on YouTube with an age restriction. In the words of The Huffington Post, “be warned that a penis does make its way into the frame at a few points throughout the video.”
Supporting her super successful 11th studio album, ‘Dreamchaser’, English songstress Sarah Brightman is setting out on her first tour in half a decade. She will perform this Friday, 10/25, at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver BC, and follow it with a show at Seattle’s Paramount Theater 10/26. Escondido, the project of Tyler James and Jessica Maros, is setting out for a Fall tour in support of their 2013 album ‘The Ghost Of Escondido’. It’s been a big year for the band, with an appearance on Conan, tours with larger and larger names, and a new record on the way. Watch the Conan appearance with Escondido and full band, and catch them with the full band on tour this Fall. The tour features shows in Vancouver BC 12/2, Seattle 12/3, and Portland 12/4. Now most of a year past his sophomore full length, ‘Oak Island’, Philly artist Nightlands is gearing up for a Midwest/West Coast tour late this fall. Perhaps better known as Dave Hartley, bassist for The War On Drugs, Nightlands will visit Seattle 11/14 at the Sunset Tavern and 11/17 at Portland’s Bunk Bar.
