October 13, 2014, Showbox at the Market. Anberlin’s last Seattle show, ever. Sold out. 1,100 cap. I have a few mixed confessions about Anberlin, but the facts are straight: I laid an old friend to rest that night.
On Anberlin’s breakout 2008 major label debut, New Surrender, frontman Stephen Christian passionately sang that he wanted to “burn out brighter, brighter than the Northern lights.” Flash forward to 2014, and after 11 years of musical output, Anberlin has decided that it’s better to burn out bright than to fade away. To that end, the Florida quintet will be disbanding at the year’s end and has offered us its seventh and final album, entitled Lowborn, as a bittersweet parting gift. The album captures Anberlin in its purest form, beholden to neither fan nor label expectations, and the results are as polarizing as they are marvelous.
Don’t miss this: Anberlin’s final tour dates are midway through announcements, but the band has confirmed dates through the PNW, which will go on sale TODAY at 12PM PST! The Floridian veterans will hit Seattle 10/13 at Showbox at the Market, Portland’s Wonder Ballroom 10/14, and Spokane’s Knitting Factory 10/15. Ticket links are included above, so see you there!
Some of the biggest news in the industry lately has been based around Anberlin’s final album and farewell world tour. With hints and pieces of new music from lowborn and random strings of dates announced so far, the band has finally posted dates for the rest of the US, including dates in Seattle 10/13 at Showbox, Portland 10/14, and Spokane at the Knitting Factory 10/15. Tickets for the Seattle date/whole tour will go live on July 11th, so bookmark the Showbox website to be first on the list!
Since many of the RCA staffers will be at Vans Warped Tour 2014, we figured it would be cool to do a preview for the bands we’re (individually) most excited to see!
Despite the recent delay for Anberlin’s farewell album lowborn, the band has released a new song ‘Hearing Voices’ for early download on iTunes. Check it.
Reunited with original label Tooth & Nail and original producer Aaron Sprinkle, Floridian rock legends Anberlin just released the first single off ‘lowborn’, Stranger Ways, as well as the initial batch of preorders for the band’s final album. Stream Stranger Ways on Billboard now, and preorder ‘lowborn’ on the Anberlin webstore!
Back on Seattle label Tooth & Nail for their final album, Floridian rockers Anberlin just revealed their final album title, ‘Lowborn’, and the album artwork. Preorder packages will be available starting next week, and keep an eye out for farewell world tour dates in the PNW! Until then, make sure to catch Anberlin all Summer on the Vans Warped Tour, and watch for drummer Nate Young taking the throne behind Yellowcard’s kit as well!
