Skip the Foreplay at El Corazon
I didn’t expect a huge turnout for this show, considering that it fell on the same night as The Thug in Me Is You Tour, however I was pleasantly surprised to see El Corazon’s main floor just about full with excited concert-goers. No locals for the night, but an interesting bill of bands from multiple record labels including Rise and Epitaph. Palisades opened the evening, each member in matching burgundy, corduroy pants and suspenders. The next band, Upon This Dawning brought a fun set with their cover of Call Me, Maybe as well as their Italian accents. I’m pretty sure I saw every tough guy in the back singing along, grins on their faces.
Skip The Foreplay was probably the most memorable band of the night. Tons of energy, guitars outlined with multi-colored LED lights, and a guitarist with a broken something who played sitting down throughout, made for one unforgettable mixture. Not to mention, these guys are from Montreal (yay, more accents!). If nothing else, each band was exciting to watch and aesthetically pleasing, making my job all the easier.
