Best Coast At The Showbox, 6/4
From the In-N-Out themed merch, to their laid-back personalities, and ocean-side ready tunes, everything about Best Coast boasts the awesomeness of their So-Cal roots.
With a packed house at The Showbox, one of Seattle’s beloved concert venues nested right in the heart of downtown, Best Coast was the best thing that could have rung in the hot summer days. As soon as the California duo took the stage, their locked in guitar-heavy riffs and surf-able vibes captured the crowd almost instantly.
Bethany Cosentino’s stage persona is chillest of chill. The attention span of an average audience usually requires outlandish stage antics or an outgoing personality to not lose interest, however this is not true for Best Coast. With the help of always solid, Bobb Bruno, Bethany is able to command the crowd with her cool confidence and authentic delivery.
While the new record, California Nights, still has the familiar sounds of a Best Coast album, the band was able to produce a more refined pop sound. Stronger melodies and memorable lyrical phrases are the anchor to this release and it was clearly portrayed in their live performances of the new repertoire. They played a myriad of old and new songs, and it was just all around good time for everyone in attendance.
