Anberlin, Paper Route, and All Get Out at the Showbox Market
ALL GET OUT opened the show at the Showbox Market on Sunday night, March 3rd. I had never heard of them before and they really impressed me. They were a perfect opener to get everyone in the crowd stoked. It was straight up rock-and-roll and the lead singers voice is amazing.
PAPER ROUTE played before Anberlin. Their drummer is an animal; I can’t believe how incredible that guy is and how long he can play like that. I’ve been listening to them for years and I was so happy to finally be seeing them live. There was a mini-drumset set up between the barricade and the stage that the lead singer hopped down into near the end of the set. It was a cool idea, but no one could see it unless you were in the front against the barricade. I would love to see them headlining a tour soon. They were incredible.
ANBERLIN blew my mind. It was one of the loudest mixes I’ve ever heard, which was a little much, but they were so good I didn’t even care. Stephen Christian’s voice is out of this world and the whole band was so solid. Stephen is so fun to watch because I don’t think I have ever seen someone so happy on stage. He just looks like he loves what he does so much. His voice is absolutely amazing. It’s do distinctive and it’s just as good live as on their recordings. He was all over the place and moved around more than any singer I’ve ever seen; I was blown away he could keep up that pace for over an hour. He talked a lot about how Anberlin has recorded in Seattle and the city holds a special place in his heart. I’ve been listening to them for years and that was something I didn’t know about them. “Unwinding Cable Car” and “(*Fin)” are two of my favorite songs in the world, and I was so excited they played those. I would see them a million times. It was one of those shows I left so sad it was over.
