The night began with taking a trip to Portland with Priory. To the likes of the wonderful Grouplove- [minus the girl lead] Priory has a fun, soft, playful sound that makes you feel like you are in the company of great friends. It was a fantastic lighthearted start to the night! Following Priory was Halsey- an incredibly talented young girl with a big voice. A New York-based act comparable to Chvrches, she took over the stage with blue hair and an insanely engaging presence. Her cover of The Killers “When You Were Young” shed a different light on the tune, bringing a lighter sound. If anything, this tour with The Kooks is just the beginning for this bright and talented 20 year old.

Next Monday the 29th, The Kooks will grace our beautiful Showbox at The Market and will put on an inevitably unforgettable show. In support of their fourth studio album, Listen, The Kooks have begun a world tour. If you haven’t had a chance to listen to the record, it is a must. Knowing The Kooks since the release of their first album I can definitely say they went all out with Listen. Momentarily stepping away from their traditional British pop/rock roots, this UK quartet has brought a whole new perspective on their sound with tracks like “Are We Electric”. This rebirth of The Kooks can only bring more well-deserved success to the beloved quartet. The Kooks last visited our city in 2011 and put on one amazing performance. The chemistry between the band is undeniable and the energy that front man Luke Pritchard exudes is enough to make any girl swoon. It’s a show that cannot be missed!
