If I could describe the Tycho show in one word it would be “hypnotizing.” As cliché as that sounds, from the lights, the crowd, and the production, everything, and I mean EVERYTHING just blew me away. Opening up with “PBS” you could just feel the energy from the crowd radiating through the whole venue.

    3. Interview : The Gaslight Anthem

      Posted on in Interview

You’ve undoubtedly heard of New Jersey rock band The Gaslight Anthem. From the groundbreaking record The 59 Sound in 2008 to last year’s release Get Hurt, this quartet has been writing deeply emotional, beautiful rock and touring the globe nonstop. Guitarist Alex Rosamilia was kind enough to fill me in on how things are on the road, the new record, and Australia’s best Italian food.

    4. Local Spotlight : Duke Evers

If musical fate were a thing, Josh Starkel (guitars/vocals) and Kyle Veazey (drums/vocals) of Seattle’s own Duke Evers, were definitely meant to have crossed paths. Having found each other whilst looking for roommates, it wasn’t until months later that they started jamming together and soon realized that their musical styles and ideas were destined to be melded into what is now known as Duke Evers.

    5. Gallery : Dr. Dog And Hanni El Khatib At The Showbox 2/10

If I could describe the Dr. Dog show one word, it would be “timeless.” I could think of no other venue that would fit the sounds of both bands better than The Showbox. From the disco ball, dance floor, and the light work that was on display, there was a truly timeless feel that brought together kids and older adults genuinely excited about music. Everyone in the crowd had smiles, dancing around and moving to the music. It was spectacular. With a mixture of Arctic Monkeys and the Lumineers with some groovy old school rock elements, it’s a good time guaranteed. If you haven’t heard or seen Dr. Dog or opener Hanni El Khatib live, I highly recommend it.

Capital Cities is a band that can make even the most stubborn cross-armed-too-good-for-dancing concert goer tap their toes and bob their heads. Known for their breakthrough radio hit, “Safe and Sound,” this Los Angeles-based duo offers so much more musically and in their live show that people need to know about.
