    1. Staff Blog : Music Monday: the mix tape edition

      Posted on in Staff Blog

Well, it’s that time again. It’s Monday Funday. Last week, I went to TWO shows in New York City. I saw some new bands I’ve never heard of, and, surprisingly, they were all pretty good. Here’s just a bit of what I encountered. You can listen to them piece by piece or go in order. I have put them in order as I would a fine mix tape. You don’t even have to rewind this… just hit replay.

    2. Staff Blog : Music Monday: The Sasquatch Edition

      Posted on in Staff Blog

The Sasquatch launch party was a week ago and we now know who is on the bill for the coveted Sasquatch Music Festival at The Gorge in Quincy, Washington. Among those headlining the festival are Mumford & Sons, The xx, Vampire Weekend, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.

Pure Love’s Frank Carter (ex-Gallows) and Jim Carroll (ex-Hope Conspiracy & Suicide File) are no strangers to the music scene.

    4. Staff Blog : Music Monday: It’s REALLY Cold Outside Edition

      Posted on in Staff Blog

Every time I post a Music Monday blog I try to come up with an arbitrary theme that really has nothing to do with the content of the post. However, I know for a fact that extreme coldness is an epidemic in this country right now, as the people I follow on Instagram have been Insta-ing their weather widgets, parka pics, and a plethora of other photos that imply “my city is colder than yours” for the past week.

    5. Staff Blog : Music Monday: “I feel so presidential… but I’m not.”

      Posted on in Staff Blog

Today is one of those strange Mondays I’ve had in a while. Last time, I talked about how cool Olan Rogers was in his video “Ghost in the Stalls.” Today, I still preach the validity of cool-ness that is Olan Rogers. If he made music instead of youtube videos, I would never turn off my ipod. I mean, at least it isn’t the “Friday” song by Rebecca Black!

    6. Staff Blog : Music Monday: Hatters For Hire, Union Street Orchestra, Alabaster

      Posted on in Staff Blog

For my first run at Music Monday, I want to keep it super local to Seattle, which is extremely appropriate because I have been all about the Seattle music scene lately. I used to play in bands and be really involved locally, but since moving to Bellingham for school I got pretty disconnected for a few years until recently.

    7. Staff Blog : Music Monday: Being As An Ocean, A Shattered Hope, Sworn In

      Posted on in Staff Blog

Hailing out of Alpine, CA Being As An Ocean are quickly making a name for themselves in the heavy sea of the music scene. Their debut album “Dear G-d” is everything an album should be. So much passion and heart with every note played, every word sung. This album will leave you wanting more from this group. BAAO has quickly become one of my favorite bands and I have a feeling they will stay among the ranks for a while.
