    1. News : Hear The Brand New Verlaine Track “Washington”!

      Posted on in News

Our local friends in Verlaine have just put up a stunning new song titled “Washington”. Building on the spacious and haunting sound of The Open Sea, the new song is a looming beast that maintains a beautiful composure while drama and tension pulse in the background through the verses. Cut by a muscular guitar solo and rock instrumental, “Washington” is the next step on this band of veteran’s shining career. Take a listen on Bandcamp now, and don’t forget that these guys will be performing at the Tractor Tavern with Jen Wood and Each & All this Thursday at 9PM!

    2. Interview : Capsula

      Posted on in Interview

Last week, Sean emailed me saying that a cool band from Spain was in town for a few days before starting off their West coast tour. Since he couldn’t do an interview from there, he passed the baton to me, and thus, an interview with Capsula was born. This awesome trio just released a new live album, titled Dead Or Alive. For gnarly rock lovers, it’s right up your alley (and right up your Spotify, too!). The tour starts tonight at the (newly renovated!) Sunset Tavern in Ballard, with tickets starting at only $10! The band will also hit Portland, Bend, and Boise in the next few days, so all of the PNW will get a treat. Coni was nice enough to chat with me about the tour, Dead Or Alive, and touring so far from home!

Tomorrow night at the Sunset Tavern, a handful of local Weezer diehards will celebrate 20 years of the Weezer self-titled in an opening set for Seattle band Post Adolescence. Billed as My Name Is Jonas for obvious reasons, the gang will perform with a set of seriously spot-on reproductions of Weezer instruments lovingly prepared at their ace guitar shop, Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar in Ballard.

    5. Local Spotlight : Verlaine

Although the guys come from all corners of the U.S., Verlaine’s birthplace was Seattle, and this is very evident in their indie/alt-rock vibes.
