Life in Film at The Neptune, 5/19
Playing to a sold out crowd on your first ever stop in Seattle is not a bad welcome to the city! The guys of Life in Film hail from East London, and have been on tour with The Wombats on their current run and their fans have undoubtedly been receptive to the indie-rock quartet.
The lead vocals from Samuel Fry are a cross between Chris Martin’s (Coldplay) sincere delivery and the gravelly tone of Nathan Followill (Kings of Leon), and what’s not to like about that combination? The rest of the band are totally in sync with each other and it’s easy to dance along to their music, whether or not it is your first time listening to them. Despite their high energy and upbeat set, my favorite moment was when the guys performed their emotional stripped down ballad, “Anna, Please Don’t Go.” There’s something about a live show when a crowd of rock enthusiasts are silenced by a mellow-er song with a beautiful melody.
