HAIM – The Paramount 8/15/14
HAIM is the epitome of “girl power.” In an industry and genre that is still dominated by males, this California-raised sister band is totally marking their territory with their classic rock-inspired indie/alt sound.
Having seen HAIM at Coachella, I knew it was going to be a great show. Coming into The Paramount, I notice that there are just as many girls as there are guys, if not more! It is always great to see my fellow females enjoying great live music. And with Seattle being the music-loving city that we are, the crowd response was nearly ear-deafening throughout the entire show.
Nowadays, sibling bands are not too common. But when they do agree to perform together, they do so in perfect harmony (pun most certainly intended). The HAIM sisters seamlessly trade-off lead vocal responsibilities and perfectly blended harmonies, all the while playing their respective instruments with much skill and finesse. Their set consisted of all of the fan favorites from the debut album, Days Are Gone, including “Forever,” “The Wire,” “Falling,” and “If I Could Change Your Mind.” As part of their encore, the band surprised us with their indie-alt/pop rendition of Beyonce’s “XO,” and it was amazing (to say the least).
HAIM definitely puts on a great live experience and is worth your time. Unfotunately, by now, the girls are done with their touring of the Days Are Gone record, but not to fear, they just released this music video for their song “My Song 5” that features A$AP Ferg (and some celebrity cameos)!
