The Fall Of Troy at Lively Lounge
Sometime yesterday morning, I caught wind of a secret The Fall of Troy show happening at Seattle’s brand new Lively Lounge, so I used the power of Twitter to express my desperation towards the right person and scored a way in. In case you’re unfamiliar, The Fall Of Troy is a post-hardcore/math rock trio from Mukilteo that was on hiatus from 2010 to late 2013, but they recently revived their friendships and played a string of reunion shows in Austin, TX before announcing another back home in Seattle. They are performing tonight at the Showbox, and hooray–you can still buy tickets for $15.
A crazy two-piece band called Tacos! opened with two songs, playing their instruments with enough ferocity to more than make up for their size. Admittedly, I didn’t catch their name at first and was very confused when Thomas randomly asked if we liked tacos, but who doesn’t like tacos? (I said yes with great enthusiasm.) TFOT chose mostly early songs, and one I didn’t recognize but still thoroughly enjoyed, including: Ghostship Part I, Spartacus/Rockstar Nailbomb, Macaulay Culkin, The Circus That Has Brought Us Back To These Nights, and “You Got A Death Wish, Johnny Truant?” My knowledge of their discography past Doppelgänger is nonexistent, but they seemed to know that the crowd wanted to hear the classics.
Now for photos. I mostly stood in one place and enjoyed the show in an attempt to not be “that photographer” in a room with so few people, but I think I made it work despite that pesky mic stand. Enjoy!
